it was... it's now in the smithsonian, or it will be for a while before it gets moved to the international motorsports hall of fame in indianapolis, indiana. the driver was unhurt, but to get out of the car, he stood up. the roof was torn off the car, and you can imagine the rest.
as far as comments, this is now my most popular pic... i was at the race that weekend... and i stuck around for practice. would you beleive the driver raced the next day? i'm so glad i went that weekend...
if you go to this [link] you can see proof that the car that was destroyed AND the car that hit harmon are both Chevrolet Monte Carlos. (read: open mouth, switch foot) so it appears that people want more dead chevys w00t:lol
Also, you'll notice the angle of the pic in the link is similar, if i had waited another 0.5 seconds to push the button(this was taken with a normal camera, not a disposeable one) then i would have had a similar shat where you could see the driver in the car... you can see why drivers are so confident with their cars today, as he walked away from this with minor bruises similar th those you would get from sleeping on your side on hard ground(i.e.not very severe at all) after his car was literally ripped in 3 peices: the right front tire was in the parking lot after the wreck and the engine was literally at the other end of the track)
